Today's pattern is very easy to follow and makes a beautiful shawl from a combination of Artyarns colors:

This shawl is made with Supermerino 114, 109, 115, 102, and 116. The pattern is quite a simple triangle that gets larger as you go. Here goes:

Abbreviations:
pm = place marker
rm = remove marker
k1inc1 = knit into the front and the back of the stitch making 2 stitches out of 1 stitch (and increase of 1 stitch)
yo = yarnover--wrap yarn around needle one time to create an extra stitch

CO 3 sts.
Row 1: K1inc1, yo, pm, k1, yo, k to end.
Row 2: K1inc1, k to end, slipping marker.
Row 3: K1inc1, k to marker, rm, yo, pm, k1, yo, k to end.
Repeat rows 2-3 switching colors every 10 rows. If you want to maintain the order in which this shawl was made, follow this sequence of Supermerino colors: 114, 109, 115, 102, 116, 102, 115, 109, and 114.

Bind off all stitches, weave in ends.

Have fun with this one. Once you get the hang of it, it's mindless knitting.

I designed this shawl in Regal Silk 105 using a "modular"-type pattern whereby a triangle is formed with lace panels that emerge in opposite angles. I think the angles make it interesting. For a great one-skein project, try this free pattern for the Faux Lace Summer Sash that I designed. This is beautiful in the Regal Silk. There's a reason that famous designers like Hermes use silk for their scarves--they are heaven to wear in all kinds of weather. The main problem with the silk yarn is that it's addictive and it's hard to go back to other yarns once you've tried it. Here's a photo of 2 sashes--one is knit in Regal Silk 105 and the other in Regal Silk 135. The modular design will show off the variegated yarns really well. Even if you haven't tried modular knitting before, this is a great pattern because it's so easy! Enjoy.
